It is a matter of faith...

In my entire career, I have never performed any puja, yajna, abhisheka, inauguration, or any 5th, 10th, or 25th-year anniversary ceremony; hence, I have no experience🙏🏼

*Yajñānāṁ japayajño'smi* (Among yajnas, I am the yajna of japa)

Japa = repeated reading, recitation, recitation in cycles... of Ashtanga Hridaya or of the Samhita texts

The world runs on emotion...

*Śāstraṁ jyotiḥ🪔 prakāśārthaṁ darśanaṁ👁️ buddhirātmanaḥ ।*

Shastra operates by intellect... so when I "think"... certain points emerge that may damage established perceptions, such as...

What is the connection of Dhanvantari with Ayurveda?

Is there even any connection ⁉️

There is no mention of a deity named Dhanvantari in Ayurveda.

In Charaka and Vagbhata, in the descent of Ayurveda (*Ayurveda Avatarana*), the Ashwini Kumaras are mentioned, who are clearly referred to as *Deva-bhishak* (physicians to the gods).

Leaving aside one shloka of Sushruta, no connection of Dhanvantari as a deity appears with Ayurveda.

The Dhanvantari who emerges from the Kshirasagara (Ocean of Milk) carrying a pot of nectar (*amrita kalasha*) is not related to Ayurveda.

That is an allegory, metaphor, cameo, miracle, or an arthavada-like mythological story.

It is impossible that from an entirely liquid-dominated ocean, a person could surface holding another distinct liquid substance filled inside a pot... and even if he did emerge, nobody has become immortal since then through that nectar which supposedly makes one ageless and immortal.

And calling Kasiraja Divodasa as "Dhanvantari" must merely be a title of honor / veneration.

Because Ayurveda existed long before him.

I do not possess the slightest belief in the notion that Dhanvantari's place of bodily shedding (*deha-visarga* / *deha-visarjana*) or place of death is in Dhanej, Gujarat.

For Dhanvantari, who emerged with the pot of nectar from the churning of the ocean (*samudramanthana*), death is impossible since he is a divine incarnation; and it is practically impossible that Kasiraja Divodasa would leave Kashi and travel all the way to Dhanej just to die.

Ashwini Kumaras, Daksha Prajapati, Indra, as well as Rudra (*prathamo daivyo bhisak* = the first divine physician) do show some connection with Ayurveda in various contexts, but it does not appear that Dhanvantari—either as a god or as Kasiraja—has any very intimate connection with Ayurveda.

While there was already a Vedic reference describing the Ashwini Kumaras as the divine physicians, why Dhanvantari was subsequently called the deity of Ayurveda is a thought-provoking question.

The word *Dhanva* means arid/desert land (*Jangala Desha*) (A.Hri.Ka.1)... it has no explicit connection with a bow (*dhanu*) or surgery (*shalya*)... The etymology / nirukti of the word *Dhanvantari* given by Dalhana is incomprehensible or unacceptable even by the most far-fetched stretch of reasoning.

The four items held in Dhanvantari's hands are not explicitly related to the science of surgery (*shalya tantra*). If the pot of nectar is in hand, what is the need for the other objects? And in the other three hands are a conch (*shankha*) and discus (*chakra*), which have no prominent mention anywhere in shalya or surgical procedures, and a leech (*jalauka*), which is merely a minor surgical instrument (*anu-shastra*). If he were indeed the deity of surgery, primary, versatile instruments like *kankamukha* (heron-beak forceps) or *vrihipatra* (scalpel) and *suci* (needles) ought to have been held in his hands! 😇

If one wishes to work out of sheer faith, then gayatri mantras exist for him just like other deities... but such mantras are composed even for today's newly "acknowledged" deities like Sai, Swami, and Shankar Maharaj... In a few days, I too will compose such gayatri mantras for Charaka, Sushruta, Vagbhata, and Anil Panse🙏🏼

आयुर्वेद मे धन्वंतरी नाम की देवता का उल्लेख नही है

चरक और वाग्भट मे आयुर्वेद अवतरण मे अश्विनी कुमारों का उल्लेख है, जिनको देवभिषक् ऐसे स्पष्ट रूप से कहा गया 

सुश्रुत का एक श्लोक छोड दिया तो धन्वंतरी का आयुर्वेद से देवता के रूप मे कोई संबंध दिखाई नही देता 

क्षीरसागर से अमृत कलश लेकर आनेवाला धन्वंतरी आयुर्वेद से संबंधित नहीं है 

वह कोई उपमा रूपक cameo चमत्कार अर्थवाद ऐसी पौराणिक कहानी है

संपूर्ण द्रव प्रधान समुद्र से कलश मे भरकर कोई अन्य द्रव द्रव्य अलग होकर कोई व्यक्ति उसे लेकर ऊपर आयेगा यह संभव नही है ... यदि आ भी गया है तो वह अमृत जो अजरामर करता है उस अमृत से उसके बाद तो कोई अमर हुआ ऐसे नही 

और काशीराज दिवोदास को धन्वंतरी कहना यह मात्र बहुमान/अर्थवाद स्वरूप होगा

क्यू कि उसके बहुत पहले आयुर्वेद अस्तित्व मे था

धन्वंतरी का देह विसर्ग देह विसर्जन या मृत्यू स्थल धनेज गुजरात मे है, इस पर तो मुझे जरासा भी विश्वास नही है

समुद्रमंथन से अमृत लेकर निकला धन्वंतरी देव अवतार होने से उसका मृत्यू संभव नही 

और काशीराज दिवोदास मरने के लिए काशी छोडकर धनेज जायेगा, यह प्रॅक्टिकली संभव नहीं

 अश्विनी कुमार या दक्ष प्रजापती या इंद्र तथा रुद्र (= प्रथमो देव्यो भिषक्) इनका कुछ तो अन्य संदर्भ मे आयुर्वेद से संबंध दिखाई देता है किंतु धन्वंतरी का देव के रूप मे या काशीराज के रूप मे आयुर्वेद से कोई बहुत घनिष्ठ संबंध है ऐसे प्रतीत नही होता है.

पहले से अश्विनी कुमारों के देव भिषक् ऐसा वेदोक्त संदर्भ होते हुए फिरसे धन्वंतरी को आयुर्वेद की देवता क्यू कहा गया, यह प्रश्न विचारणीय है.

धन्व शब्द का अर्थ जांगल देश होता है (अ.हृ.क.1) ... उसका धनु या शल्य इससे स्पष्ट संबंध नहीं है ... डह्लण ने दी हुई धन्वंतरी शब्द की व्युत्पत्ती/नियुक्ति अनाकलनीय है या अत्यंत दूरान्वय से भी मान्य करने योग्य नही है

धन्वंतरी की हात मे जो चार चीजे है वो स्पष्ट रूप से शल्य शास्त्र से संबंधित नही है अमृत कलश अगर हाथ मे है तो बाकी चीजों की क्या आवश्यकता है? और बाकी तीन हातो मे शंख और चक्र है , जिनका शल्य या शस्त्रक्रिया में कहीं पर मुख्य रूप से उल्लेख नही है और जलौका यह एक अनु शस्त्र है. अगर शल्य की देवता है तो मुख्य कंकमुख या व्रीहिपत्र सूची ऐसे बहुपयोगी यंत्रशस्त्र हाथ मे होने चाहिये थे! 😇

श्रद्धा से काम करना है तो उसका गायत्री मंत्र की तरह मंत्र भी आता है ... लेकिन ऐसे मंत्र तो अभी के जो नये "स्वीकृत" देवता है साई , स्वामी , शंकर महाराज इन के भी आते है... कुछ दिनों बाद मैं भी चरक सुश्रुत वाग्भट अनिल पानसे इनके लिए भी ऐसे गायत्री मंत्र की रचना करूँगा🙏🏼

अन्न, वस्त्र आणि निवारा या जीवनाच्या ३ मुख्य गरजा किंवा जगण्याच्या प्रेरणा आहेत, असे आपण वाचले आहे!

आजकालची मुले म्हणतात... फेसबुक, इन्स्टा आणि व्हॉट्सॲप🤣!! किंवा काही लोक म्हणतात... मोबाईल, वाय-फाय आणि रिचार्ज!!!

आयुर्वेद सांगतो की आहार, निद्रा आणि मैथुन हे ३ जीवनाचे आधार = उपस्तंभ = आधारस्तंभ आहेत!

पुढे आयुर्वेदाचे मुख्य ग्रंथकार चरक म्हणतात की जीवनात तीन एषणा म्हणजेच प्रेरणा (motives), प्रयोजन (purpose), जीवनाच्या इच्छा (desires of life) आहेत... प्राण, धन आणि परलोक!

आज तर मला वाटत नाही की कोणी परलोकासाठी काही करत असेल... कारण आजच्या जगण्याचीच इतकी भ्रांत आहे की परलोक किंवा त्या दृष्टीने प्रयत्न, प्रेरणा (motivation) किंवा जीवनाचे प्रयोजन (purpose of life) असूच शकत नाही!!

धन किंवा प्राण म्हणजेच पैसा हवा आहे आणि जिंदगी, जीव, जीवन-अस्तित्व (life existence) हवे आहे हे सत्य आहे, "असे आपल्याला वाटते".

मुंबई लोकलच्या प्रत्येक प्लॅटफॉर्मवर रोज हजारोच्या संख्येने गर्दीत प्रत्येक माणूस जे काही करतो, ते पाहून वाटत नाही की प्राणाची त्याला काही काळजी/पर्वा आहे... जो पुणे, बंगळुरू, हैदराबादच्या रोजच्या ट्रॅफिकमध्ये एका टोकापासून दुसऱ्या टोकापर्यंत, दोन-दोन तास प्रवास (travel) करतो... हे पाहून वाटत नाही की प्राणासाठी कोणी काही करत आहे... पाहताना तर असे दिसते की एकाच गोष्टीसाठी सर्व यातायात, परिश्रम, संघर्ष (struggle) केला जात आहे... सगळे जण ज्याच्यासाठी मरमर करत आहेत, ते केवळ धनप्राप्तीसाठी आणि पैशाच्या हव्यासापोटीच आहे.

मग असा विचार येतो की इतका सगळा संघर्ष (struggle) करून, जीवाचे रान करून, मेहनत आणि वेळ वाया घालवून... ज्या धनाला मिळवण्यासाठी ही सगळी धडपड, प्रयत्न सुरू आहेत... त्या धनाला मिळवून काय करणार??? स्वतः धन म्हणजे तर काही (उपभोग्य वस्तू) नसते... की त्या धनाला खाऊन घेऊ, पिऊन घेऊ, त्यावर झोपू शकू, त्यावर बसून प्रवास (travel) करू शकू, असे तर नाहीये! त्या धनाचे "काहीतरी" केले पाहिजे, तर धनाच्या विनिमयातून "काय" प्राप्त करायचे आहे ज्याच्यासाठी दिवसभराचा हा रोजचा इतका सगळा संघर्ष (struggle) प्रत्येक व्यक्ती करत आहे!?

धनाचा गरजेनुसार किंवा गरजेपेक्षा दहा पट, शंभर पट साठा करूनही काय करणार!?!? एकाच वेळी वीस पोळ्या खाऊ शकत नाही, एकावर एक चार शर्ट घालून, एकाच वेळी चार गाड्यांमध्ये बसून प्रवास (travel) करू शकत नाही, एकाच वेळी चार घरांमध्ये राहू शकत नाही!!!... मग धनातून जे प्राप्त होऊ शकते, ती काय त्याची एषणा = प्रेरणा (motives), प्रयोजन (purpose), जीवनाच्या इच्छा (desires of life) आहेत???

धनाच्या विनियोगाने ते अन्न, वस्त्र, घर, गाडी, दागिने, महागड्या जीवनशैलीच्या (lifestyle) वस्तू आणि प्रवास (travelling) प्राप्त/शक्य होऊ शकते, तर मग हे सर्व जीवनाचे प्रयोजन (purpose), प्रेरणा (motivation), हेतू (aim), ध्येय (goal), सार्थकता आहे का???

तर मग आपल्याला का शिकवले जाते की "प्राण, धन आणि परलोक या ३ एषणा आहेत"!!!

असे प्रत्यक्षात तर दिसत नाही... प्राण टिकून राहण्यासाठी जे शारीरिक आरोग्य हवे असते, त्याबद्दल तर कोणीही जागरूक नाही... धन मिळवण्यासाठी प्राणाचीही पर्वा केली जात नाहीये, आणि आजच्या काळात परलोक तरी कोणाला हवा आहे असे वाटत तर नाही. आणि ज्या धनाला मिळवण्यासाठी या सर्व गोष्टी केल्या जात आहेत, त्या धनातून जे काही प्राप्त होऊ शकते, ते तर जीवनाचे मूळ ध्येय, प्रपंच, हेतू (aim), लक्ष्य (goal) आहेच नाही... तर हे सर्व कथन काहीतरी अनाकलनीय/गोंधळाचे आहे; म्हणजेच परलोक कोणालाच नको आहे, प्राणाची काळजी कोणालाच नाही, प्रत्येक जण धन कमावण्याच्या मागे धावत आहे आणि त्या धनातून जे प्राप्त करायचे आहे, ते तर ३ एषणांमध्ये कुठे लिहिलेच नाहीये!? मग संहितेतून एषणा हा विषय वगळून (delete करून) टाकायचा का... तसेही या "वाग्वस्तुमात्र" विषयाचे वर्णन सुश्रुत आणि वाग्भट यांनी केलेलेच नाहीये!!!... किंवा मग नव्याने काही नवीन एषणा लिहिल्या पाहिजेत का?

Food, clothing, and shelter are the 3 main necessities or motivations of life, so we have read!

Kids these days say... Facebook, Insta & WhatsApp🤣!! Or some people say... Mobile, Wi-Fi & Recharge!!!

Ayurveda says that food (ahara), sleep (nidra), and celibacy/regulated sexual conduct (maithuna) are the 3 foundations of life = sub-pillars (upasthambha) = pillars!

Further, the primary author of Ayurveda, Charaka, says that in life there are three *eshanas*, meaning motives, purpose, desires of life... Prana (life force/health), Dhana (wealth), & Paraloka (the afterlife/higher realm)!

Today, I do not think anyone does anything for the afterlife... because merely getting through today's living is such a preoccupation that the afterlife, or effort or motivation or purpose of life from that perspective, simply cannot be!!

Wealth or life—meaning money is needed, and life, existence, life's continuity is needed—is a truth, "so it seems to us."

Looking at what every person does in the crowds of thousands on every Mumbai local platform every day, it does not look like they care at all about life/health (prana)... traveling from one end to the other for two hours in the daily traffic of Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad... seeing this, it does not seem like anyone is working for the sake of life... to look at it, it appears that all this toil, hard work, struggle is being undertaken for just one thing... everyone is working themselves to death solely for the acquisition of wealth, for the craving of wealth.

Then I think that after doing so much struggle, putting in one's heart and soul, expending effort and time... what will they do after obtaining that wealth for which all this frantic striving and effort is underway??? Wealth in itself is nothing... it is not as if one can eat that wealth, drink it, sleep on it, or sit on it and travel; it is not like that! One must do "something" with that wealth, so "what" is to be obtained through the exchange of wealth for which this daily, routine, endless struggle is being undertaken by every single person!?

Even by accumulating wealth according to necessity, or ten times, a hundred times more than needed, what will one do!?!? One cannot eat twenty rotis at once, cannot wear four shirts layered over one another, cannot sit and travel in four cars simultaneously, cannot live in four houses at once!!! ... So is that which can be obtained through wealth one's *eshana* = motives, purpose, desires of life???

Through the utilization of wealth, food, clothing, house, car, jewelry, expensive lifestyle items, and traveling can be obtained/made possible, so then is all of this the purpose, motivation, aim, goal, objective, and fulfillment of life???

Then why are we taught that "Prana, Dhana & Paraloka are the 3 *eshanas*"!!!

It certainly does not appear so... no one is conscious of the physical health needed to sustain life (prana)... to obtain wealth, they do not even care about life, and as for the afterlife, who even wants it in this day and age, it does not seem so; and whatever can be obtained from the wealth for which everything is being done, that is not the fundamental objective, pursuit, aim, or goal of life at all... so this entire statement seems rather muddled/contradictory; meaning, nobody wants the afterlife, nobody cares about life/health, everyone is running after earning wealth, & whatever is to be obtained from that wealth is nowhere mentioned in the 3 *eshanas*!? So should the topic of *eshana* be deleted from the Samhita... anyway, this "mere verbal expression" (*vagvastumatra*) topic has not been described by Sushruta and Vagbhata at all!!!... Or should entirely new *eshanas* be written?

आयुर्वेद कहता है की आहार निद्रा और मैथुन ये 3 जीवन के आधार = उपस्तंभ = डीलर्स है!

आगे आयुर्वेद के मुख्य ग्रंथकार चरक कहते है की जीवन मे तीन एषणा अर्थात मोटिव्ह्ज motives पर्पज purpose desires ऑफ लाईफ है ... प्राण धन & परलोक !

आज तो मुझे नही लगता की कोई परलोक के लिए कुछ करता होगा ... क्योंकि आज के जीने के ही इतनी पडी है की परलोक या उस दृष्टी से प्रयास या मोटिवेशन या पर्पज ऑफ लाईफ नही हो सकता!!

धन या प्राण अर्थात पैसा चाहिये और जिंदगी जान लाइफ एक्झिस्टन्स चाहिये ये सत्य है, "ऐसा हमे लगता है"

मुंबई के लोकल के हर प्लॅटफॉर्म पर रोज हजारो की संख्या मे भीड मे हर आदमी जो करता है, वो देख के लगता नही की प्राण की उसे कोई परवाह है... जो पुणे बेंगलोर हैदराबाद क रोज के ट्रॅफिक मे एक छोर से दूसरी छोर तक, दो दो घंटे तक ट्रॅव्हल करता है... ये देख के लगता नही की प्राण के लिए कोई काम कर रहा है... देखने मे तो ऐसा दिखता है, की एक ही चीज के लिए सारी मशक्कत परिश्रम struggle की जा रही है ... सारे मरे जा रहे है, वह केवल एक धन की प्राप्ती धन की लालसा के लिए ही है

फिर ये सोचता हूँ कि इतनी सारी struggle करके, जी जान लगाके, मेहनत समय बरबाद करके... जिस धन को पाने की ये सारी धडपड प्रयास चल रहे है... उस धनको पाकर क्या करेंगे??? स्वयं धन तो कुछ होता नही ... की उस धन को खा लेंगे पी लेंगे उस पर सो सकेंगे उस पर बैठकर ट्रॅव्हल कर सकेंगे, ऐसा तो नही है! उस धन का "कुछ" करना चाहिए , तो धन के विनिमय से "क्या" प्राप्त करना है कि जिसके लिए दिन भर की ये रोजमर्रा की इतनी सारी struggle हरेक की व्यक्ति की ये जा रहा है !?

धन का आवश्यकता के अनुसार या आवश्यकता से दस गुना सौ गुना जमा करके भी क्या करेगा!?!? एक साथ बीस रोटी नही खा सकता एक के ऊपर चार शर्ट एक साथ चार गाडी मे बैठकर ट्रॅव्हल नही कर सकता एक साथ चार घर मे रह नही सकता!!! ... तो धन से जो प्राप्त हो सकता है क्या वह उसकी एषणा = मोटिव्ह्ज motives पर्पज purpose desires ऑफ लाईफ है ???

**1. Reference Shloka:**

*Gudūcī kaṭukā tiktā svādupākā rasāyanī |*

*Saṅgrāhiṇī kaṣāyoṣṇā laghvī balyā’gnidīpanī |*

*Doṣatrayāmatṛḍdāhamehakāsāṃśca pāṇḍutām ||*

*Kāmalākuṣṭhavātāsrajvarakṛmivamīnharet |*

*Pramehaśvāsakāsārśaḥkṛcchrahṛdrogavātanut ||*

Guduchi is one of the best substances among bitter taste (*Tikta Rasa*) herbs. Although Patola is considered the best among bitter taste substances, yet from the perspective of medicinal applications, Patola is part of food as a vegetable fruit, whereas Guduchi is an extremely potent, widely celebrated, and popular medicine. Bitter taste, being predominantly composed of Akasha (Ether/Space) and Vayu (Air), normally aggravates Vata and is non-aphrodisiac (*Avrishya*); however, Guduchi and Patola are two exceptions to this rule.

**3.**

Along with this, Guduchi has the capacity to pacify blood obstruction (*Shonita Vibandha Prashamana*)—meaning stopping blood stagnation, clot aggregation, lump formation, and thrombus; Guduchi has the ability to destroy this.

Along with this, Guduchi is the foremost drug (*Agrya Dravya*) for Vatarakta (Gout/Vascular disorders)—meaning it possesses the capability to destroy pathologies of the nature described as *"Parvasu abhihataṃ raktaṃ vakratvād avatiṣṭhate"* (blood obstructed in joints becoming crooked/stagnant) as well as the capacity to destroy excessive bodily moisture (*Kleda*).

Along with this, Guduchi is mentioned among the 4 well-known *Medhya Rasayanas* (intellect-promoting rejuvenators).

Furthermore, the *Guduchyadi Gana* destroys Pitta-Kapha fever, vomiting, toxins, internal burning sensation (*Antardaha*), and Pitta.

**6.**

Along with this, Guduchi has been mentioned as a pacifying agent (*Samshamana*) in Sharngadhara Samhita.

**7.**

Due to Guduchi being superior in bitter taste, the use of only Guduchi *Ksheerapaka* (medicated milk decoction) is beneficial in conditions caused by bone degeneration (*Asthikshaya*). For this reason, Guduchi is also included in *Panchatikta*.

**8.**

Because Guduchi destroys metabolic toxins (*Amanashana*), on one hand it is antipyretic (*Jvaranashaka*), and along with that, it also destroys rheumatoid conditions (*Amavatanashana*). Therefore, Guduchi is also included in *Rasnapanchaka* and *Rasnasaptaka*.

Guduchi has a beneficial action in bone degeneration (*Asthikshaya*) and blood obstruction (*Shonita Vibandha*); for this reason, MhetreAyurveda has successfully utilized it in AVN (Avascular Necrosis).

Along with this, extremely beneficial results are obtained in L5-S1 degeneration, various types of lumbar disc degeneration, knee degeneration, and ligament tears such as ACL and PCL.

Guduchi or Panchatikta, both being of bitter taste in the form of *Ksheerapaka*, are extremely difficult, unpleasant, and unpalatable to consume from a taste/palatability perspective. For this reason, their Sugar Kalpa Granules or their *Saptadha Baladhan Vati* are exceedingly convenient and pleasant in terms of taste, appetite, and palatability.

**12.**

Due to being a destroyer of blood obstruction (*Shonita Vibandha Nashana*), Guduchi Saptadha Baladhan Tablet & Guduchi Ksheerapaka Sharkara Kalpa Granules are useful in all such conditions including: Vascular Diseases, Varicose Veins, Varicose Ulcers, DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), Thrombophlebitis, Pulmonary Embolism, Aneurysm, clot-related ischaemic heart disease, and clot-related ischaemic brain stroke.
