**1. Reference Shloka:**

*Gudūcī kaṭukā tiktā svādupākā rasāyanī |*

*Saṅgrāhiṇī kaṣāyoṣṇā laghvī balyā’gnidīpanī |*

*Doṣatrayāmatṛḍdāhamehakāsāṃśca pāṇḍutām ||*

*Kāmalākuṣṭhavātāsrajvarakṛmivamīnharet |*

*Pramehaśvāsakāsārśaḥkṛcchrahṛdrogavātanut ||*

**2.**

Guduchi is one of the best substances among bitter taste (*Tikta Rasa*) herbs. Although Patola is considered the best among bitter taste substances, yet from the perspective of medicinal applications, Patola is part of food as a vegetable fruit, whereas Guduchi is an extremely potent, widely celebrated, and popular medicine. Bitter taste, being predominantly composed of Akasha (Ether/Space) and Vayu (Air), normally aggravates Vata and is non-aphrodisiac (*Avrishya*); however, Guduchi and Patola are two exceptions to this rule.

**3.**

Along with this, Guduchi has the capacity to pacify blood obstruction (*Shonita Vibandha Prashamana*)—meaning stopping blood stagnation, clot aggregation, lump formation, and thrombus; Guduchi has the ability to destroy this.

Along with this, Guduchi is the foremost drug (*Agrya Dravya*) for Vatarakta (Gout/Vascular disorders)—meaning it possesses the capability to destroy pathologies of the nature described as *"Parvasu abhihataṃ raktaṃ vakratvād avatiṣṭhate"* (blood obstructed in joints becoming crooked/stagnant) as well as the capacity to destroy excessive bodily moisture (*Kleda*).

**4.**

Along with this, Guduchi is mentioned among the 4 well-known *Medhya Rasayanas* (intellect-promoting rejuvenators).

**5.**

Furthermore, the *Guduchyadi Gana* destroys Pitta-Kapha fever, vomiting, toxins, internal burning sensation (*Antardaha*), and Pitta.

**6.**

Along with this, Guduchi has been mentioned as a pacifying agent (*Samshamana*) in Sharngadhara Samhita.

**7.**

Due to Guduchi being superior in bitter taste, the use of only Guduchi *Ksheerapaka* (medicated milk decoction) is beneficial in conditions caused by bone degeneration (*Asthikshaya*). For this reason, Guduchi is also included in *Panchatikta*.

**8.**

Because Guduchi destroys metabolic toxins (*Amanashana*), on one hand it is antipyretic (*Jvaranashaka*), and along with that, it also destroys rheumatoid conditions (*Amavatanashana*). Therefore, Guduchi is also included in *Rasnapanchaka* and *Rasnasaptaka*.

**9.**

Guduchi has a beneficial action in bone degeneration (*Asthikshaya*) and blood obstruction (*Shonita Vibandha*); for this reason, MhetreAyurveda has successfully utilized it in AVN (Avascular Necrosis).

Along with this, extremely beneficial results are obtained in L5-S1 degeneration, various types of lumbar disc degeneration, knee degeneration, and ligament tears such as ACL and PCL.

Guduchi or Panchatikta, both being of bitter taste in the form of *Ksheerapaka*, are extremely difficult, unpleasant, and unpalatable to consume from a taste/palatability perspective. For this reason, their Sugar Kalpa Granules or their *Saptadha Baladhan Vati* are exceedingly convenient and pleasant in terms of taste, appetite, and palatability.

**12.**

Due to being a destroyer of blood obstruction (*Shonita Vibandha Nashana*), Guduchi Saptadha Baladhan Tablet & Guduchi Ksheerapaka Sharkara Kalpa Granules are useful in all such conditions including: Vascular Diseases, Varicose Veins, Varicose Ulcers, DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), Thrombophlebitis, Pulmonary Embolism, Aneurysm, clot-related ischaemic heart disease, and clot-related ischaemic brain stroke.

1. संदर्भ श्लोक 

गुडूची कटुका तिक्ता स्वादुपाका रसायनी |

संग्राहिणी कषायोष्णा लघ्वी बल्याऽग्निदीपनी |

दोषत्रयामतृड्दाहमेहकासांश्च पाण्डुताम् ||

कामलाकुष्ठवातास्रज्वरकृमिवमीन्हरेत् |

प्रमेहश्वासकासार्शःकृच्छ्रहृद्रोगवातनुत् ||

गुडूची यह तिक्तरस द्रव्यों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ द्रव्य में से एक है. यद्यपि तिक्त रस में सर्वश्रेष्ठ द्रव्य पटोल है, 

तथापि औषधीय प्रयोगों की दृष्टि से देखा जाये तो पटोल फलशाक के रूप मे अन्न का एक भाग है और 

गुडूची यह आत्यंतिक वीर्यवान सुप्रसिद्ध और लोकप्रिय औषधी है. 

तिक्त रस आकाश वायु प्रधान होने के कारण वातप्रकोपक और अवृष्य होता है, तथापि गुडूची और पटोल यह दो द्रव्य इसके अपवाद है

इसके साथ ही गुडूची शोणित विबंध प्रशमन अर्थात रक्त का रुकना संघात होना गुठली बनना थ्रोम्बस होना , इसको नष्ट करने की क्षमता गुडूची मे है 

इसी के साथ गुडूची वातरक्त का अग्रेद्रव्य है अर्थात "पर्वसु अभिहतं रक्तं वक्रत्वाद् अवतिष्ठते" इस प्रकार की संप्राप्तियां नष्ट करने की क्षमता और क्लेदनाश की क्षमता गुडूची मे है

इसी के साथ 4 सुप्रसिद्ध मेध्य रसायनो मे गुडूची का उल्लेख होता है

एवं च गुडूच्यादिगण यह पित्त कफ ज्वर छर्दि विष अंतर्दाह पित्त इनका नाश करता है

इसी के साथ ही गुडूची को शार्ङ्गधर मे संशमन के रूप मे उल्लेखित किया गया है

गुडूची तिक्तरसमें श्रेष्ठ होने के कारण केवल गुडूची के क्षीरपाक का उपयोग अस्थिक्षयजन्य विकारो मे लाभदायक होता है 

इसी कारण से गुडूची पंचतिक्त में भी समाविष्ट है

गुडूची आमनाशन होने के कारण एक तरफ ज्वरनाशक है और उसी के साथ आमवातनाशन भी है 

इसलिये रास्नापंचक रास्नासप्तक मे भी गुडूची का समावेश होता है

गुडूची का अस्थिक्षय और शोणितविबंध इसमे लाभदायक कार्य होता है, इस कारण से MhetreAyurveda ने इसका AVN मे यशस्वी रूप से प्रयोग किया है

Because it contains Triphala, it is also useful (to a certain extent) in ocular disorders.

Guda (jaggery) is a sugarcane derivative, which is also indicated with Haritaki in Pratishyaya (coryza/rhinitis)...

Also, because Guda is Abhishyandi (secretory/channel-blocking), it is an Utkleshaka (toxin-agitating/mobilizing) substance; due to this reason, along with Vata, it is capable of detaching and expelling Pitta and Kapha—these manifest, Prithvi-Jala-predominant obstructive factors—from the micro-channels, from deep-seated/lodged spaces... from sinuses... from ethereal/cavitary spaces.

Together with this, because it contains Triphala, it is useful in the form of dryness for the absorption of Kleda (excess moisture), and in the form of Virechana (purgation) as Anulomana (downward movement) or Shodhana (purification).

Triphala is included among the drugs of intense smoking (Tikshna Dhumapana), which is the chief line of treatment for Vata-Kapha disorders located above the clavicle (Jatrurdhvagata); therefore, it is an Uttamanga Shodhana (purifier of the head/upper organs).

Bhunimba, that is Kiratatikta, is the main ingredient of Mahasudarshana, which is useful as an antipyretic, meaning digestion of Ama (undigested toxic waste)... It is inherently laxative, meaning mildly purgative (*jvarānte recanaṁ dadyāt*).

Haridra is the foremost drug for Meha (urinary disorders/diabetes); due to this reason, it is a destroyer of Kleda. The properties of Daruharidra are similar to Haridra; therefore, it is useful as an Uttamanga Shodhana.

Nimba is included in Panchatikta, and is a destroyer of Krimi (parasites/microbes) and Kushtha (skin diseases). Moreover, Nimba is the primary and sole levigating (bhavana) substance of Arogyavardhini; therefore, it is a destroyer of Kleda-predominant (Kapha-Pitta) disorders like Kushtha.

Guduchi is a destroyer of Vatarakta, which means again it is a destroyer of Kleda, and it is a destroyer of Shonita-vibandha, meaning it is an obstruction remover. Furthermore, by being a Shamana (pacifier), Rasayana (rejuvenator), and Medhya (nootropic), it is an Indriya Prasadaka (clarifier of the sensory organs).

In this manner, by Guda = oleation and mobilization (Snehana-Utkleshana); by Triphala = purgative and purificatory processes (Virechana-Shodhana); and by Nimba, Kiratatikta, Haridra, Guduchi = pacifying processes through Kleda absorption, drying, and clarification (Rukshana-Prasadana)... Pathyadi is capable of pacifying especially Vata-born conditions, as well as secondarily pacifying Pitta and Kapha that provoke Vata through obstruction.

Along with the gross, wide, or umbrella-like organ that is the head (shira),

The meaning of head includes intra-cranial spaces = those cavities, and peri-cranial surrounding spaces = sinuses including maxillary, frontal, sphenoid, ethmoid, and mastoid cells; and all other spaces occurring in this region including the eyeballs, Eustachian tube connecting the ear and throat, nose, maxillary sinus, nasolacrimal duct, nasal meatus, oral cavity, throat, pharynx, larynx—all these ethereal components, spaces, sinuses, vacuoles, tubes in the supraclavicular region... as well as the spaces within the external, middle, and internal ear; which, in the form of the cochlea and vestibule, govern balance and spatial orientation. In all pathologies occurring in all these organs—principally Vata-born, and secondarily Pitta-Kapha-born—Pathyadi works as a *balanced formulation*, through its affinity (gamitva), its dosha-pacifying nature, its obstruction-clearing nature, as a purificatory process... and in the form of pacification, clarification, and alleviation of irritation...

In which...

Guda performs the work of oleation & mobilization;

Triphala performs the work of drying, purification, and downward regulation; and

Nimba, Kirata, Guduchi, Haridra provide universally beneficial action in the form of pacification and clarification.

Therefore, in head diseases presenting with any type of pain... whether it is

Modern-day migraine, or

Trigeminal neuralgia,

Heaviness of the head caused by sinusitis, or

Temple pain (Shankhashula) associated with symptoms or relief of Amlapitta (hyperacidity) and vomiting, or

Earache / heaviness in the ear / ear discharge / tinnitus (Karnanada) caused by external or internal factors, or

Middle ear inflammation/infection, or

Inner ear hearing loss, or imbalance / dizziness / vertigo type of disorder, or

Parietal, temporal, occipital, frontal headache that is

Arising from heat/sun exposure, anger, grief, or elevated blood pressure; or

Headache arising from Vata, Kapha obstruction, Pitta inflammation, or sinusitis; or

Pathologies born of doshas in the eyeball; or

Disorders predominant in or born of Vata, Vata-Kapha, Vata-Pitta, or Pitta-Kapha in the nose (Pratishyaya, sinusitis, sneezing, nasal blockage, watery nasal discharge, itching in the nose), throat (tonsils, pharyngitis), oral cavity (stomatitis, toothache, gingivitis)—

Through one mode of action or another, Pathyadi is definitively relieving...

In which Triphala is functional, useful, and effective in the form of purification, drying, and ocular benefit.

Guda, being sweet, heavy, and unctuous, is a Vata pacifier; and due to its Abhishyandi nature, it is a dosha-mobilizing agent (Utkleshaka), meaning it expels doshas lodged within the channels. And

Nimba, Kiratatikta, Haridra, Guduchi—these remaining four substances—act through their innate potency, disease-curing capacity, and richness of properties as Kleda absorbers, dosha pacifiers, clarifiers, & destroyers of tissue vitiation (dhatu-dushti).

For this reason, not merely the head or eyes, but across the entire supraclavicular region—head, cranium, temples, ears, eyes, nose, teeth, mouth, tongue, throat, pharynx, larynx, sinuses, mastoid, Eustachian tube, cochlea, vestibule, middle ear, external & internal ear, as well as intracranial and pericranial spaces—in all pathologies occurring in all these sites, mainly Vata-predominant and Pitta-Kapha-born, Pathyadi is definitively effective.

**Dosage**

If the intensity of disorders or pain is severe: 6 tablets, 3 to 4 times a day, after meals or at night before sleeping during sleep-time = bedtime...

If the intensity of disorder or pain is moderate: 4 tablets &

If the intensity of disorder or pain is mild: 2 tablets 👆🏼

Administering its dosage in this manner is useful.

**Anupana (Vehicle / Adjuvant)**

Guda cannot be directly included into the tablet; therefore...

Guda / Gudodaka = water dissolved with jaggery,

Warm water, or

Mung bean soup (Mudga Yusha), or

Milk decoction prepared with fresh ginger or garlic (Kshirapaka), or

Ghee & warm water.

Administering its vehicle according to the disease, season, dosha, age, and habitat can be useful.

**Duration**

For acute pain/colic, relief is possible within half an hour (30 minutes) to 3 hours.

And for long-standing, chronic diseases, continuous use of this formulation for 2 weeks to 6 weeks = 14 to 42 days may be necessary.

**Other Formulations / Combinations**

1. If there is an excess of pain: Duralabhadi Vedanashamaka or Gridhrasinashaka.

2. If the pathogenesis or cause is due to tissue depletion (dhatu-kshaya): Vidaryadi / Yashti Gokshura Kalpa / Kushmanda Kalpa / Shaliparni Kalpa.

3. If agitation, mental anguish, emotional, psychological, or intellectual stress is the cause: Yashti, Sariva & ghee, milk Nasya, Tarpana, eye Pichu.

4. If Agni, Pitta, Rakta, heat, or a history of viral infection, typhoid, malaria, dengue, chikungunya is the cause or history: Vasa-Guduchyadi.

5. If symptoms of Amlapitta (hyperacidity) are concurrent and rapid relief occurs through vomiting: Bhunimbadi.

6. If symptoms such as Pratishyaya, Pinasa, sinusitis, rhinitis are present: Uttamanga Shodhana.

7. If there is constipation (Malavarodha): Any routine mild laxative (Nitya Mridu Virechana) alongside.

8. Since Rakta (blood) is the dushya (vitiated tissue) in head diseases, wherever possible & necessary, performing bloodletting (Raktamokshana) is useful.

भ्रूशङ्खकर्णशूलानि तथाऽर्धशिरसो रुजम्

सूर्यावर्त्तं शङ्खकं च दन्तपातं च तद्रुजम्

नक्तान्ध्यं पटलं शुक्रं चक्षुःपीडां व्यपोहति

शिरःशूल तथा भ्रू, शङ्ख, कर्ण यहां का शूल = वेदना, अर्धावभेदक की वेदना, सूर्यावर्त का वेदना, दंतपात जन्य वेदना तथा विविध नेत्ररोग इनमे उपयोगी

पथ्यादि का गामित्व शिर है, विशेषतः वातप्रधान विकारो मे उपयोगी है 

इसमे त्रिफला होने के कारण यह नेत्रगत विकारो मे भी (कुछ मर्यादा तक) उपयोगी है 

गुड यह इक्षु विकृती है, जो प्रतिश्याय मे भी हरीतकी के साथ निर्दिष्ट है... 

तथा गुड यह अभिष्यंदि होने के कारण एक उत्क्लेशकद्रव्य है, इस कारण से वात के साथ साथ, यह पित्त और कफ इन मूर्तिमंत पृथ्वी जल प्रधान अवरोधकारक घटकों को , सूक्ष्म स्रोतस् स्थित/गत/लीन अवकाशों से... सायनस से ... आकाशीय भावों असे विलग अलग करने में निष्कासित करने में, सक्षम होता है 

साथ ही इसमे त्रिफला होने के कारण रूक्षता के रूप मे क्लेद का शोषण और विरेचन के रूप मे अनुलोमन या शोधन के रूप मे उपयोगी होता है 

त्रिफला जत्रूर्ध्वगत वात कफ जन्य विकारों का मुख्य उपक्रम धूमपान के तीक्ष्ण धूमपान के द्रव्यों में समाविष्ट है इसीलिए यह उत्तमांग शोधन है

भूनिम्ब अर्थात किराततिक्त यह महासुदर्शन का मुख्य घटकद्रव्य है जो ज्वर नाशक अर्थात आमनाशन पाचन के रूप मे उपयोगी है ... स्वयं सारक अर्थात मृदुविरेचक है ज्वरान्ते रेचनं दद्यात्

हरिद्रा मेह का अग्र्य द्रव्य है, इस कारण से क्लेदनाशक है, दारू हरिद्रा के गुण हरिद्रा के समान होते है, इसलिये उत्तमांग शोधन के रूप मे उपयोगी है 

निंब पंचतिक्त में समाविष्ट है तथा कृमि कुष्ठ इनका नाशक है तथा निंब यह आरोग्यवर्धिनी का मुख्य और एकमात्र भावना द्रव्य है इसलिये कुष्ठ जैसे क्लेद (कफ पित्त) प्रधान विकार का नाशक है 

गुडूची वातरक्त नाशक हे अर्थात फिरसे क्लेदनाशक हे तथा शोणितविबंधनाशक हे अर्थात अवरोध नाशक है तथा संशमन और रसायन & मेध्य होने के कारण में होने के कारण इंद्रिय प्रसादक है 

इस प्रकार से गुड = स्नेहन उत्क्लेशन , त्रिफला = विरेचन शोधन प्रक्रिया द्वारा तथा निंब किराततिक्त हरिद्रा गुडूची = क्लेद शोषण रूक्षण प्रसादन इस शमन प्रक्रिया द्वारा ... विशेषतः वातजन्य तथा वात को अवरोध के द्वारा प्रकोपित करने वाले पित्त कफ का भी गौण रूप मे शमन करने में पथ्यादि सक्षम है

गुड यह मधुर गुरु स्निग्ध होने के कारण वातशामक है तथा उसके अभिषंदी स्वभाव के कारण दोष उत्क्लेशकद्रव्य है अर्थात स्रोतोलीन दोषों को निकालने वाला है और 

निंब किराततिक्त हरिद्रा गुडूची ये बाकी के चार द्रव्य यह अपने स्व सामर्थ्य से रोगघ्नता से गुणसंपन्नता से क्लेदशोषक दोषशामक प्रसादक & धातु दुष्टी नाशक इस प्रकार से कार्यकारी है

इस कारण से केवल शिर या नेत्र नही अपितु 

जत्रूर्ध्वगत प्रदेश में शिर कपाल शंख कर्ण नेत्र नासा दंत मुख जिह्वा कंठ फॅरिंक्स लॅरिंक्स सायनसेस मॅस्टाॅईड युस्टेशियन ट्यूब काॅक्लिया व्हेस्टीब्युल मिडल इयर एक्स्टर्नल & इंटर्नल इयर तथा इंट्रा क्रेनियल, पेरि क्रेनियल इन सभी स्थानो पर होने वाले मुख्यतः वातप्रधान तथा पित्त कफजन्य विकृती में पथ्यादि निश्चित रूप से कार्यकारी होता है

गुड / गुडोदक = गुड घोला हुआ जल

आर्द्रक सिद्ध/ लसूण सिद्ध क्षीरपाक या 

घृत & उष्णोदक 

इसका अनुपान यथाव्याधी यथा ऋतू यथादोष यथा वय यथादेश देना उपयोगी हो सकता है

कालावधी

तीव्र शूल/वेदना के लिये आधे घंटे 30 मिनट से लेकर 3 घंटे उपशम आना संभव है 

और दीर्घकालीन चिरकारी व्याधी के लिये 2 सप्ताह से 6 सप्ताह तक = 14 से 42 दिनों तक इस योग का निरंतर उपयोग करना आवश्यक हो सकता है

अन्य योग कॉम्बिनेशन्स combination

यदि वेदना अधिक्य हो तो दुरालभादि वेदनाशामक or गृध्रसीनाशक

यदि धातुक्षयजन्य संप्राप्ति या कारण हो तो विदार्यादि / यष्टी गोक्षुर कल्प / कूष्मांड कल्प / शालिपर्णी कल्प

यदि अग्नि पित्त रक्त उष्णता व्हायरल इन्फेक्शन टायफाईड मलेरिया डेंग्यू चिकनगुनिया इस प्रकार का कारण या इतिहास हो तो वासागुडूच्यादि

यदि अम्लपित्त के लक्षण साथ मे हो और छर्दि से शीघ्र उपशम मिलता हो तो भूनिंबादि 

6.

यदि प्रतिश्याय पीनस सायनुसायटिस ऱ्हायनायटिस इस प्रकार का लक्षण हो तो उत्तमांगशोधन 

7.

यदि मलावरोध कॉन्स्टिपेशन हो तो साथ मे कोई नित्य मृदु विरेचन 

8.

शिरोरोग में रक्त यह दूष्य होने के कारण जहा संभव & आवश्यक हो, वहां पर रक्त मोक्षण करना उपयोगी होता है
