English : Yayaati Chyavana Arthavaada Chyavanaprasha

Yayaati Chyavana Arthavaada Chyavanaprasha ✍️🏼 Copyright ©Vaidya Hrishikesh Balkrishna Mhetre. Since this article is a personal opinion and understanding, it is possible that there may be some shortcomings, errors and defects in this article. ✍️🏼 It is written in the Phalshruti of Chavanprash in Charaksamhita. 1. Baalaanaam Cha angavardhana 2. अस्य प्रयोगात् च्यवनः सुवृद्धोऽभूत् पुनर्युवा ✍️🏼 Let us have some discussion on this. ✍️🏼 Yayati's father Nahusha. Nahusha's father Ayush and Ayush's guru Chyavan Rishi. ✍️🏼 If the old sage Chyavan, after eating the Chyavanprash of Ashwini Kumar, became young again… then why did Chyavan's disciple Ayush whose grandson Yayati exchange his old age with his son Puru to become young again??? ✍️🏼 If it was possible to postpone old age and become young again by eating Chyawanprash and Chyawan is like a historical person for us today, a pauranika person... it was not so, for Yayati. Yayati's grandfather was a direct disciple of Chyavan, that is, if the old Chyavan had become young again by eating Chyavanprash of Ashwini Kumar, then he could have made Yayati also young again in this way. Yayati does not need to exchange youth and old age with his son. ✍️🏼 For this reason, what we are told that by eating the Chyavanaprash of Ashwini Kumar, the very old Chyavana became young again, is just a myth/story/hearing/saying/vaagvastumaatra, *which in the classical definition is Arthavaada. It is said, this is all… Ninda-Praashastya-Param Vaakyam Arthvaada*… It is often full of exaggeration, which today we call advertisement. ✍️🏼 After eating Chyavanprash, the aged Chyavan became young again, this is not at all any reality, it is a *arthavaadaatmaka* incident written only to show the importance of that Kalpa, ✍️🏼 Like the use of Hastidanta Mashi on palm, in Sharngdhar Samhita, Lepat Panitaleshvapi = can grow hair even on the sole of the hand = palm, such an *Aashakya Vidhana = mission impossible* has been made, which is *not a reality, but an arthavaada only*!!! ✍️🏼 It is similar to exaggerated claims of results in Shlokas of Charaka's Vajikarana yogas. In this, "Shatan Narinaam Bhunkte" = one can have sexual intercourse with a hundred women, which is extremely impossible for any human being, but the meaning of writing such a statement, to increase the importance of *Kalpa, i.e. to make arthavaadaatmaka statement is only, this is not REAL or Factual. ✍️🏼 Exactly the same thing, by eating Chyawanprash, the old Chyawan became young again, you should know about this, this is not a reality, it is only a story and in the classical definition it is Arthavaada only. ✍️🏼 Then second thing… after eating Chyavanaprash, sage Chyavana, who was very old, became young again… *if this story is real, true*… then its second meaning is that today The Chyawanprash we are making... ✍️🏼 either its contents are incorrect Or the dose and duration we give is wrong. matrakālāśraya yuktiḥ, siddhiryuktau pratishthitā ✍️🏼 If both of these are true... the content and quantity, which we are giving today... then the story of Chyavan who became young again from old age... this cannot be true! Because whatever experience Chyavan experienced, Yayati should also have experienced it, because the time when Chyavan and Yayati were alive is very close to each other. And being a Chakravarti king, it could not have been rare for Yayati to achieve such a solution. ✍️🏼 One of these two options must be accepted… 1. Having strong faith in the power of our ancestors, and considering our traditions as true, we should believe that, indeed, by eating Chyawanprash prepared by Ashwini Kumar, Chyawan, who had grown old, became young again… ✍️🏼 So, we have to accept the second option that the Chyawanprash we are making today, either its contents or its quantity, is not being given to us in the proper form/dose/duration, that is going wrong because, what is written is that by eating Chyawanprash, one will get healthy. A person can become young again, no one gets such experience today. Or it is written in the Phalshruti of Chyawanprash. ✍️🏼 If the womb is becoming dry = garbha shushka (IUGR) or the baby is becoming dry baala shosha, then it can be cured with "Yashti Kashmiri Siddha Ksheerapaaka / Sharkarakalpa (granules)", which we have seen many times in our practice. ✍️🏼 Similarly, *Angavardhana*, the results of Chyawanprash seem to be true, if someone has seen in a patient by giving Chyawanprash only/alone, then ALSO it will be possible to make an old person young again. But in my 35 years of experience in Ayurvedic field, I have never seen any child or any skinny person becoming big/fat/nourished again, getting 'Angavardhana', *just by eating Chyawanprash*, & getting such results. Have anyone of you seen a child's body getting improved by using Chavanprash ALONE/ONLY?! ✍️🏼 If by consuming Chyawanprash, the dryness of an emaciated child (or in-utero) or the slow growth in IUGR is seen to be getting cured, then it should be possible to transform from an old age to a young one. But in practice, both of these do not happen. ✍️🏼 *Therefore, there are two options*, that either … 1. Our present content and quantity/duration/dose of Chyawanprash is wrong … or 2. It is not real for the old Chyawan to become young again by consuming Ashwin Kumar's Chyawanprash. ✍️🏼 If by consuming Chyawanprash it is not real to change from old to young, then Chyawanprash is today becoming only a marketable item and saleable material and we are not Ayurvedic medicine traders/shopkeepers… then… Accept the reality and give up/quit Chyawanprash. ✍️🏼 I am not against Aapta Pramana… But, neither Shastra Maatra Sharanah, nor na Cha Analochita Aagamah… We have to prove, come to the golden middle suvarnamadhya… ✍️🏼 Anuyayat pratipadam sarvadharmaeshu madhyamam… We see advertisements on television saying, Utha utha Diwali aali… Moti snanachi vel jhali… So Diwali is not celebrated just to sell moti soap. ✍️🏼 In the same way wake up wake, diwali is here… It's time to make Chyawanprash!! We have been telling such stories from generation to generation just to “sell” Chyawanprash, it should stop somewhere. ✍️🏼 Accept the light of truth and destroy the darkness of illusion... Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya on this auspicious Diwali… ✍️🏼 I have a previously published article on this subject written in all three languages, Marathi/Hindi/English, its link is also given. Interested and inquisitive Sanmitra Vaidya should read it. In which the main contents of today's Chyawanprash, Amalaki and Matsyandika = sugar, are incorrect and how the quantity suggested to the patient of today's Chyawanprash is wrong, it has been explained. An eager and inquisitive vaidya should read it and make appropriate changes in his practice accordingly. ✍️🏼 Just like many Vaidyas sell aromatic oil, Abhyanga oil, Keshaya oil Udvartan / Ubtan on Diwali or Swarnaprashan on Pushya Nakshatra or Shatavari Kalp throughout the year... similarly many sell Chyawanprash during winter season.. ✍️🏼 Don't become a dealer/trader by *selling* such medicines. We are capable vaidyas, who improve the health of patients and destroy diseases. We are not Traders who earn money by standing in the market, always keep this reality in your mind!!!🙏🏼 ✍️🏼 The patient is not our customer/client, though Sushrutacharya says, however, the patient is not even our son either. ✍️🏼 For us, the patient is our provider of food annadaataa i.e. God… so our conduct/behavior towards our God in the form of that patient should be very pure and authentic. Therefore, do not sell him medicines, become a consulting physician i.e. Pranabhisara Vaidya for his health protection and disease eradication. ✍️🏼 Copyright ©Vaidya Hrishikesh Balkrishna Mhetre.
